As the anniversaries of the Blood Fang Riots and the Leviathan’s attack approached, Primeheart found himself waking in a cold sweat. Nightmares of the past haunted his dreams. Nathan, who had lost more than most to the riots, had a visit from Rosie to invite him to the Tea Garden. Mari worked on her garden while Pip continued to work at the docks and listen for rumors. Owen read about Cyl’s most recent interaction with the new Goa and asked Holly to let him know if they showed up at the clinic.
They all met at the Tea Garden on the private balcony at the back. After everyone had arrived, Owen started a discussion about beginning to used resources and allies. He thought that the group should make a move soon. He suggested the 17th of Trillaris, since it’s the anniversary of the riots. During this discussion, Zreet suddenly arrived and gave the group a mission.
There mission was to take down a Nocturne. Once they had acquired the Nocturne’s armor, Zreet hoped to have one of the larger members of the group wear it at the big wedding that had just been announced. She did not know who the wedding was for, but the king would be attending and he had not left his castle in years. The group agreed hesitantly, but Zreet gave them two of the special disks which Aldion had tested before they took him away.
The group made plans on how best to attack the Nocturne. Zreet had told them that she would make sure they only had to face one Nocturne. It would be a feat, that Primeheart especially, felt the group was capable of accomplishing. The disks would incapacitate the Nocturne for three minutes.
To prepare for the fight, Pip convinced a glaring of cats to accompany Mari, in her cat form, to hide her amongst the crowd. This would allow her to stick the disk on the Nocturne as all the other cats ran passed. Meanwhile, the others went to the Brell Estate. They discovered that Uncle Preston was not only home, but entertaining a half-elven woman named Duchess Violant Lockridge. She was a relative of Tybalt’s and Nathan found out that his uncle and Duchess Violant had been discussing an arranged marriage between Tybalt and Nathan. She also revealed that she had been friends with Nathan’s mother.
Nathan met his friends in the library to discuss what he just learned from Duchess Violant. None of them were excited to hear about his impending wedding. They discussed the situation and make plans for their fight later with the Nocturne. Rosie played them a song she wrote and they went to meet with Pip and Primeheart.
The group waited at the appointed location and fought the Nocturne as Zreet had told them. They started doing fairly well against the Nocturne, but they took several strong hits. Getting the special devices onto them turned out to be much harder than they thought. Then a second Nocturne appeared and the group was quickly outmatched. They managed to down one of the creatures and, unable to carry it, got its helmet off. They discovered that the inside was full of some type of flesh and the helmet contained a message in code. As they continued to fight the second Nocturne, a large black wolf appeared. It changed into King Goodsbury. Owen gave the order to scatter and they, eventually, all fled.
